Bond set in alleged domestic incident

A $25,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly injured his parents during an altercation.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Todd Maynard, 47, with two counts of second-degree domestic battery.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Detective Roger Gray, police were sent to a house on Perry Street at 9:36 p.m. in response to a reported domestic disturbance.

Maynard’s 76-year-old mother told police her son had hit her in the back of the head with an unknown object, and his 82-year-old father said Maynard had been physically abusive to him.

Gray reported in the affidavit that Maynard allegedly told his mother he “was tired of having to live like this” before hitting the woman, and when the father confronted Maynard, he allegedly threw his father to the floor.

Police reported that Maynard’s mother had a knot on her head, while his father had bruises to the arms and face. The skin was also torn on his arm. Maynard was reportedly intoxicated at the time.

When he was interviewed, Maynard allegedly said he did not remember anything about the incident.

Maynard was ordered to have no contact with his parents until the case is settled.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Maynard.
