St. Joseph to host Blessing of the Animals

St. Joseph Catholic Church, West Sixth Avenue and Walnut Street, will host its annual Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Walnut Street parking lot.

Noel “Bud” Bryant, a deacon, will conduct the service. Following the service, Catholic Daughters will provide refreshments for all participants, including the pets.

Everyone is invited to attend. Participants are urged to have their pet on a leash or in a carrier, for everyone’s safety, a spokesman said.

Holy cards and medals of St. Francis will be give away. St. Francis of Assisi’s feast day is Oct. 4. He is best known as the patron of animals and the environment.
