A report that a woman had been run over by a car in the Dollarway area Thursday morning resulted in the arrest of the driver of the car, who said it was an accident.
Darren Bynum, 33, was taken into custody after police found the woman at North Lane and West Kennedy streets with bruises and bleeding from the head and mouth, Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Michael Merritt said in a probable cause affidavit presented in district court Friday.
According to the affidavit, Bynum is the boyfriend of the woman and the two had been involved in a domestic incident prior to the woman allegedly being hit by the vehicle.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor Wayne Juneau said Bynum had previously been convicted of second-degree murder in a case that was transferred to juvenile court in 1997, and of theft of public benefits in 2010.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Bynum after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with second-degree domestic battery.
Bynum, who said he would hire his own attorney, was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
