A $10,000 bond was set Friday for a man who allegedly had drugs and a gun in his vehicle when the vehicle was found on the wrong side of the road Thursday.
Kendrick York, 23, allegedly told police the vehicle had stalled out and while police were looking for registration information, they found the drugs and gun, Detective Shawn Davis said in a probable cause affidavit presented in court Friday.
According to the affidavit, Traffic Officer Joe Anderson was called to 2306 Belmoor Drive, where he found the vehicle, a Dodge Charger, and when detectives arrived, Anderson had York in custody.
Davis said in the affidavit that a search of the car resulted in the finding of a small bag of suspected marijuana on the front passenger side floorboard, a pill bottle containing suspected marijuana in the center console and a backpack with a handgun loaded with 15 shells in the front passenger seat.
According to the affidavit, York allegedly asked if the detectives could make the charge a misdemeanor “because when the state police pulled him over before, he had more weed that he got this time.”
The suspected marijuana weighed 6.8 grams and will be sent to the state crime laboratory for analysis.
York said he would hire his own attorney.
