No one injured in house fire

No one was injured in a house fire Wednesday morning at 17th Avenue and Maple Street, according to fire officials at the scene.

Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services personnel were called at 11:22 a.m. to 1618 S. Maple St., where they found a single-story white residential home on fire, with flames coming out of the house on the side facing the street, according to fire officials, who said firefighters had been able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

One woman had been home when the fire started. The initial investigation indicated it was an accidental fire.

At the scene, firefighters cleaned up after the fire was extinguished and continued to douse the structure in case of hot spots. The front side of the house had a blackened area around the door and main window. A pile of fire-damaged items grew in front of the house, including a couch and other furniture. A car parked in front of the house also had fire damage to its front end.

BC 1, Engine 1, Ladder 1, Engine 5 and Engine 3 helped fight the fire, according to fire officials at the scene. Pine Bluff police had 17th Avenue blocked off to traffic during the fire and its cleanup.
