The 2012 Arkansas State Highway Map is now available from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, according to AHTD Director Scott Bennett.
The cover features Highway 35 in Grant County. The map also includes messages from Gov. Mike Beebe and the Arkansas State Highway Commission.
The map incorporates 23 insets of Arkansas cities, a chart showing mileage between cities and a directory of public recreation areas featuring state parks and historic memorials, national park sites, national forest recreation areas and Corps of Engineers parks.
It also includes information on the 55 program of the Arkansas State Police and the “Know the Red Zones” program indicating highway projects that have reduced capacity that can lead to travel delays.
The maps may be obtained free at any of the highway department’s district headquarters, Arkansas Welcome Centers, AHTD Central Office at 10324 Interstate 30 in Little Rock, by phone at 501-569-2444 or online at www.arkansashighways.com .
To request a map by mail, the address is AHTD, Map Sales Section, P.O. Box 2261, Little Rock, AR 72203.
More than one million maps are expected to be distributed free of charge to the public.
