The monthly business meeting of Sigma Nu Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was held in the home of Betty Jane Strong.
Donna Brown was the co-hostess. Strong gave a thought for the day on “patience.”
A motion was approved to donate to the Arkansas Food Bank. Ways and means chairman Wanda Waring assigned committees to work at concession stands for the rodeo parade. The September social was scheduled to be held at Chili’s Restaurant. Chili’s annually donates proceeds on Sept. 24 to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Bobbie Joyce reported that she and Kathy Wooley, state Easter Seal chairman, participated in “Rolling on the River” walk in Little Rock. Brown announced plans to sell candy bars as the state finance project.
Following the program theme, “Sow the Seeds of Sigma Nu”, Patty Membrey presented the program on the Passion flower, noting that herbalists call it “nature’s most powerful sleeping aid”. Research shows it relaxes muscles, calms the nervous system and leads to deeper, longer sleep without side effects of grogginess. Passion flower tea can be found at health food stores. Drink the tea a half hour before bed time, the group was told.
Other members attending were Avis Hood and Barbara Taylor.
