The Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County is seeking volunteers for its tutorial program, which extends through the summer. Volunteers are needed to tutor in all subjects for children ages 6 to 13 in grades one through six. The CASA (Committee Against Spouse Abuse) Women’s Shelter is in need of a variety of volunteer help. There is a need for a person to sit with children from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays while their parents are in a group counseling session. Kids First, an affiliate of the University Of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock, is looking for volunteers at its pediatric health facility in Pine Bluff for medically at-risk children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years. The volunteers would assist the early childhood specialists and have fun with the children while the “Partners for Learning” curriculum is implemented. The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Clean and Beautiful Commission would like volunteers, individuals or groups for its Adopt-A-Spot Program. They would also like to have elementary teachers participate in the Waste in Place teacher workshop, which is funded by Clean and Beautiful.
