AARP Driver Safety class to be held at JRMC

The AARP Driver Safety Program will be offered from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Jan. 17 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, 1600 W. 40th Ave.

The course fee is $12 for AARP members with a membership card and $14 for non-AARP members, payable to AARP at the time of the class. Participants should bring a valid driver’s license and their AARP membership cards if they are members.

The course is designed for senior drivers and there are no written or driving tests. It is a four-hour refresher course and covers the normal changes in vision, hearing and reaction time that comes with age and provides practical techniques for dealing with these changes.

The class will be taught by Bob Daugherty, a certified instructor.

Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate qualifying them for three years of automobile insurance discounts. Arkansas state law requires insurance companies to give an appropriate discount to those 55 and older.

To register, call 870-247-4898. The class will be limited to 35 participants.
