‘Old Towne Christmas’ to be held Dec. 3

The seventh annual “Old Towne Christmas” has been set for 4-6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.

This year’s theme is “Christmas in Paradise.”

This family Christmas event is being planned by the Old Towne Christmas Committee for Reinventing Downtown Pine Bluff. The event will provide family fun for the community.

Children and their families will enjoy a visit with Santa and storytelling by Mrs. Claus. Other activities will include a hay ride by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a magician, a balloon artist and many children’s games.

Christmas ornament-making will be provided by Fairfield Credit Union. Each child will receive a free Christmas bag from Santa that is filled with fun Christmas coloring books and colors. Historical characters will be on-hand to tell the story of the old days in Pine Bluff.

The youth group of First United Methodist Church will present “One Starry, Starry Night”, which will focus on the birth of Jesus and Bethlehem.

Entertainment will be provided by the Jenkins Center Choir, the Cosmopolitan Choir and the Pine Bluff Children’s Community Choir. Christmas popcorn, cookies and punch will be provided free to all participants.

Old Towne Christmas will be held two hours prior to the Pine Bluff Christmas Parade.

Sponsors of the Old Towne Christmas festival are the Pine Bluff Festival Association, Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation, Pine Bluff Downtown Development, Fairfield Federal Credit Union and United Way of Southeast Arkansas. Other agencies who help with this event include the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Pine Bluff Police and Fire departments, Wal-Mart, Jefferson County Judge’s Office, Delta Rivers Nature Center, UAPB Theatre Department, YouthPartners/SOS, First United Methodist Church and K-Train.
